用作表語，置于系動詞后。多數(shù)與介詞同形的副詞以及一些表示位置的副詞都可以用作表語。

　　Tom is in. Jack is out.

　　湯姆在家。杰克出去了。

　　I am here and you are there.

　　我在這兒，你在那兒。

　　I’m afraid I must be off now.

　　恐怕我現(xiàn)在得走了。

　　When will they be back?

　　他們什么時候回來？

　　The fire is on. 火在燃燒。

　　We’ll be home at ten tonight.

　　我們今晚十點到家。
