學生的責任

Education is the very thing that we want to receive. Our parents send usto school so as to enable us to get/obtain knowledge and achieve great things in the future. The following are the duties of a student (which/that) we should keep in mind.

In the first place, we should be filial to our parents and respectful to our teacher(s).

In the second place, we must study as hard as we can.

In the third place, we must not tell lies.

Last of all, we must not criticize others.

To sum up, the above-mentioned rules are the very duties of a student.

教育就是我們要接受的東西。我們父母送我們上學以便能使人們獲得知識與將來成大事。下面是我們應該記住的學生的責任。

首先，我們應對父母要孝順，對老師要尊敬。

第二(其次)，我們要盡可能的用功讀書。

第三，我們切不可說謊。

最后，我們不要批評別人。

總而言之，上面所說的規(guī)則就是我們應盡的責任。

As we all know, love is the crux of a happy life.

Love helps us stay calm and serene even when things are tough.

It can carry us through the hard times.

Love looks for ways to be of service.

Love is enjoying the surprises of life, and being totally delighted with what life gives you.

Love is the key to happiness and it is a real blessing to others.

People who love make the world a kind and gentle place and other people feel safe around them.

They appreciate differences instead of making them a cause for prejudice or fighting.

眾所周知，愛是幸福生活的關鍵所在。

愛幫助我們在時事艱難的時候保持沉著，平靜的心態(tài)。它能幫我們度過苦難的時光。

愛會自己尋找助人的途徑。愛是享受生命中的諸多驚喜，愛是完全滿足于生活的給予。

愛是幸福生活的鑰匙，愛是對他人真摯的祝福。

心中有愛的人讓世界充滿仁慈和儒雅之風，讓周圍的人感到安全。

他們求同存異，而不是把分歧作為成見或者爭執(zhí)的理由。

A Model Student

模范學生

Do you mind being called a bad student? Of course. So/As far as I know, everybody intends to be/become a model student.

However, to be a model student is by no means an easy thing. First, he must do his best to obtain knowledge. A man without sufficient knowledge will not succeed. Secondly, he must remember to improve his health. Only a strong man can do great tasks. Thirdly, he should receive moral education. If his conduct is not good, no one will consider making friends with him.

你介意被稱為壞學生嗎?當然。就我所知，每個人都打算做模范學生。

然而，做模范學生卻不容易。第一，他必須盡力獲得知識(求知)。一個沒有足夠知識的人是不會成功的。第二，他必須記住促進健康。只有強壯的人才能做大事。第三，他應該接受道德教育。如果他品行不好，沒有人會考慮和他交朋友的。

There is no doubt that happiness is the most precious thing in the world. Without it, life will be empty and meaningless. If you wish to know how to get happiness, you must pay attention to the following two points.

First, health is the secret of happiness/the key to happiness. Only a strong man can enjoy the pleasure of life.

Secondly, happiness consists in contentment. A man who is dissatisfied with his present condition is always in distress.

無疑，快樂是世界上最寶貴的東西。沒有它，人生將是空虛的而且毫無意義的。如果你希望知道如何獲得快樂，你須注意下面兩點。

健康是快樂的要訣。唯有身體強壯的人才能享受人生的樂趣。

快樂在于知足。一個不滿于現(xiàn)狀的人始終是處在痛苦之中。

書籍

As is well known, books teach us to learn life, truth, science and many other useful things. They increase our knowledge, broaden our minds and strengthen our character. In other words, they are our good teachers and wise friends. This is the reason why our parents always encourage us to read more books.

Reading is a good thing, but we must pay great attention to the choice of books. It is true that we can derive benefits from good books. However, bad books will do us more harm than good.

眾所周知，書籍教我們學習人生，真理，科學以及其它許多有用的東西。它們增加我們的知識，擴大我們的心胸并加強我們的品格。換句話說，它們是我們的良師益友。這是為什么我們的父母總是鼓勵我們要多讀書的理由。

讀書是一好事，但我們必須多注意書的選擇。不錯，我們能從好書中獲得益處。然而，壞書卻對我們有害無益。

The Value Of Time

愛惜時光

An English proverb says that time is money. I consider it/this wrong. Why? Because we all know that we can earn money by work but can not get back time in any way. For this reason, we may/can say that time is more valuable than money.

Many people do not know the value of time. It/this is indeed a great pity. We must bear/keep in mind that wasting time is equal to wasting your life.

英國有句諺語說，時間就是金錢。我認為這是不對的。為什么?因為我們大家都知道我們能夠用工作賺錢，但無論如何卻無法把時間爭取回來�；�于此種理由，我們可以說時間比金錢更寶貴。

許多人不知愛惜時光。這確實是可惜的。我們必須記住浪費時間等于浪費生命。

How To Spend Sundays

如何度過星期日

Some of us always spend Sundays aimlessly. We can seldom derive profits from the valuable time of Sundays. This is indeed a great pity. Though Sundays are set aside as a day for rest, we must make good use of them. We know that our school lessons are usually not sufficient. We should often utilize Sundays to read reference books. Only in this way, will we increase our knowledge. Besides, we must be engaged in sports or outing so as to strengthen our bodies.

我們許多人總是把星期日毫無目的地消度掉。這確實是十分可惜。我們很少能從星期日的寶貴時光中獲得益處。雖然星期日是被指定為一個休息的日子，但是我們卻應好好利用它。我們知道我們學校的功課通常是不夠的。我們應時常利用星期日來閱讀參考書。如此我們的知識就會增加了。此外，我們必須從事運動或郊游以便強壯我們的身體。

Honesty Is The Best Policy

誠為上策

There is an English proverb which says, “Honesty is the best policy.” It signifies the importance of honesty.

What are the benefits of honesty? If you are honest to others, they will be honest to you in return. When you are sad, they will comfort you. When you are in trouble, they will help you.

There is no enumerating the evils of dishonesty here. In a word, a dishonest man will be looked down upon by others and (be) regarded as a public enemy.

英國有一句諺語說“誠為上策”。它說明了誠實的重要性。

誠實的益處是什么?如果你對他人誠實，他們也會對你誠實作為報答。當你憂傷的時候，他們會安慰你。當你是處在困難中的時候，他們會幫助你。

無法在這里數(shù)述不誠實的害處。一言以蔽之，一個不誠實的人會被人看輕的而且被看作一個公敵。

How Exercise Helps

運動的利益

If our bodies are not strong, our spirit to do things will certainly be quite dull. And at the same time, we are lack of energy to study. Diseases will only attack the weak, but not the strong.

Why are our bodies not strong? Because we do not pay attention to exercise. For this reason, we students must often take different kinds/sorts of exercise in the gym.

Exercise helps us (to) strengthen our bodies and avoid disease. It also teaches us cooperation, for most exercise is played by team.

如果我們的身體不強壯，我們做事的精神一定會十分遲鈍。而且同時，我們也缺少足夠的精力來讀書。疾病只會侵擊體弱的人而不是強壯的人。

為什么我們的身體會不強壯呢?因為我們不注意運動�；�于此種理由，我們學生必須時常在運動場做不同種類的運動。

運動幫助我們強壯身體并避免疾病。它也教我們合作，因為大多數(shù)的運動都是團體游玩的。

The Benefits Of Traveling

旅行的益處

I am always interested in traveling. My reasons are quite/extremely clear. If anybody is not satisfied with my viewpoint(s), I shall be greatly surprised at his ways of thinking.

In the first place, traveling increases our knowledge. Only by traveling can we see things outside our home town.

In the second place, traveling is good to our health. While we are traveling, we usually exercise our bodies.

In conclusion, I earnestly hope that everybody must seize/grasp at the opportunity of traveling.

我對旅行總是感覺有趣。我的理由非常簡單明了。如果任何人對我的觀點不滿意的話，我將對他的想法大大吃驚。

旅行增加我們的知識。只有借旅行我們才可以看到我們故鄉(xiāng)以外的東西。

旅行對我們的健康有益。當我們旅行的時候，我們通常運動我們的身體。

總之，我衷心希望每個人抓住機會旅行。

How To Be A Good Citizen

如何做一個好公民

My aim is to become a good citizen so as to be able to render service to the/my country. However, to become a good citizen is not an easy thing. He has many duties to fulfill. The first duty of a good citizen is to love his country. He is to /must be ready to sacrifice even his own life for the country. His second duty is to obey the law and help the government (to) maintain order. If everybody can do so, the country will be rich and strong/powerful.

我的志向是做一個好公民以便能給國家效力。然而，做一個好公民不是一件容易的事情。他有許多責任要盡。一個好公民第一件責任是愛他的國家。他須準備為國家犧牲自己的生命。他第二件責任是服從法律并且?guī)椭�政府維持治安。如果人人都能這樣做的話，國家必定富強。

The Importance Of Education

教育的重要性

It is impossible for us to make our country rich and strong without developing education. Why? Because education gives people knowledge and teaches them how to become good citizens so as to be able to serve their country. No wonder they say that education decides the progress, prosperity and civilization of a country. At present/Nowadays most countries in/of the world are enforcing compulsory education. It is necessary for all kinds of people, both rich and poor, to receive education.

我們不可能使我們的國家富強而不發(fā)展教育。為什么?因為教育給予人民知識并教他們?nèi)绾纬蔀楹霉�民以便能為國家效力。難怪，有人說教育決定一個國家的進步，繁榮與文化�，F(xiàn)在世界大多數(shù)的國家都在實施強迫教育。所有各類人不論貧富都必須接受教育。

Industry (Diligence)

勤勉

It is a matter of course that industry will bring us success, wealth and good luck. I am sure that a hard-working person can always succeed in the work which he wants to do. This is unchangeable truth.

Idleness is the opposite of industry. It is the source of all evil. An idle man only enjoys playing and making pleasures. That he is doomed to failure is of no doubt. We should not follow his example.

勤勉會帶給我們成功，財富和好運乃是當然之事。我確信一個苦干的人終是能夠做成功他所要做的工作。這是不易之定理。

懶惰是勤勉的反面。它是萬惡之源泉。一個懶惰的人只享受玩耍和尋樂。他命中注定失敗是毫無疑問的。我們不應學他的榜樣。

Factors Of Success

成功的要素

I would rather suffer hardships than fail. In other words, to achieve success is my only desire. We all know that there are many factors of success. Now let me write down the most important ones in the following.

Diligence—Foolish as a person is, he can succeed in his work if he works hard. That does not admit of any doubt.

Perseverance—When you fail, don’t lose heart. Keep on working until you accomplish your aim.

Honesty—If you tell lies or does not keep your words, no one will rely on you. I would rather be scolded than cheat (others).

我寧愿受苦難不愿失敗。換句話說，獲得成功是我唯一的愿望。我們大家知道成功要素很多�，F(xiàn)在讓我們把它們最重要的寫在下面。

勤勉――一個人雖然不大聰明，但是他地能做成他的工作，如果他苦干的話。那是不容置疑的。

毅力――當你失敗的時候，不要灰心。要繼續(xù)工作，直到你達到目的為止。

誠實――如果你說謊或不守信，沒有人會信賴你。我寧愿挨罵不愿欺騙人。

War

戰(zhàn)爭

Though the people in the world are all opposed to war, they can by no means avoid it. This is indeed a regrettable thing.

War is very terrible. Everybody hears it with fear. In a war thousands and thousands of lives will be lost and a large amount of money (will be) wasted. It brings us untold miseries and damage.

To sum up, so long as war is unavoidable, human beings cannot enjoy lasting peace. How tragical their fate is!

雖然世界人民都反對戰(zhàn)爭，但是他們卻無法避免它。這確實是件非常令人遺憾的事情。

戰(zhàn)爭是非常可怕的。每個人聽到它都害怕。在一次戰(zhàn)爭中，成千成萬的人喪失了生命，大量金錢浪費了。它帶給我們無窮盡的痛苦和損失。

總而言之，只要戰(zhàn)爭不可避免，人類不可能享受持久的和平。他們的命運是多么悲慘呀!

Good Health

良好的健康

We all wish/hope to be happy, so we should take good care of our health.

Health is the best treasure (which/that) a man can possess. Money can do many things, but it cannot buy happiness. However, so long as man has good health, he can enjoy the pleasures of human life.

In order to insure good health we must pay attention to three things. They are nourishing food, fresh air and proper exercise.

我們大家都希望快樂，所以我們應該好好保重健康。一個病人因為失去健康而很少快樂。

健康是一個人所能擁有最好的財富。錢能做許多事情，但是它卻不能購買。然而，只要一個人有良好的健康，他就能享受人生的樂趣。

為了保證良好的健康，我們必須注意三件事情。它們是營養(yǎng)食物，新鮮空氣和正當運動。

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

我如何度過暑假

No sooner had the summer vacation begun than I returned to my home town. Of course I must make good use of it; otherwise I would incur the displeasure of my parents.

In the morning, I reviewed my lessons and read newspapers or magazines. In the afternoon, I played ball games with my friends or went fishing in the river. At night, I watched television with my family. Hardly had the clock on the wall struck ten when I went to bed.

暑假剛一開始，我就回故鄉(xiāng)了。自然我須好好利用它，否則我會招致父母的不快。

早晨我復習功課并閱讀報紙或雜志。下午我和朋友打球，或去河中釣魚。晚上我就和家人看看電視。墻上的鐘剛敲十下，我就去睡覺了。

Choosing Friends

A man who is careful in choosing friends will certainly derive benefit from them. Why? Because there are more false friends than real ones in this world. To have one real friend is better than a hundred false ones. Friends who flatter you to your face are not true friends.

We must make friends with those who have good character and kindness of heart. On the other hand, we should do our best to avoid keeping company with bad people.

一個小心選擇朋友的人一定會從他們那里獲得益處。為什么?因為在這個世界里假朋友比真朋友要多。有一個真朋友要比有一百個假朋友來得好。凡是當面奉承你的朋友不是真朋友。

我們必須和凡是具有良好品格和心地善良的人交朋友。反過來說，我們應盡力避免結交壞人。

Thrift

節(jié)儉

There is not a/no thrifty man but becomes a rich man sooner or later. Why? Because he will not spend such money as is unnecessary. Little by little his money will accumulate. Ten to one, he is bound to make a fortune. I do not like such men as spend their money in a wrong way. They do not know extravagance is a bad thing. It can only make them happy for the time being. In short, thrift makes poor men rich and extravagance makes rich men poor.

一個節(jié)儉的人遲早成為一個富翁。為什么?因為他決不花那種不必要的錢。漸漸他的錢就會聚積起來。十之八九，他一定會發(fā)財?shù)�。我不喜歡那種亂花錢的人。他們不知道奢侈是一件壞事。它只能夠使他們暫時快樂而已�？偠�言之，節(jié)儉使窮人變富，奢侈使富人變窮。

Perseverance

毅力

Needless to say, nothing but perseverance can lead a man to the way of success. In other words, a persevering man never does his work without succeeding in it. This is indeed unchangeable truth. Our National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, is the most ideal example. He was devoted to the revolution about forty years. He met with many failures, but he was anything but discouraged. As a result, he won. The Republic of China was born.

不需說，只有毅力才能引導人邁向成功之途。換句話說，一個具有毅力的人做工作總是會把它做成功的。這真是不易之定理也。我們國父孫中山先生是一個最理想的例子。致力國民革命四十年。他遭遇到許多次的失敗，但是他決不灰心。結果，他贏了。中華民國誕生了。

Where There Is A Will, There Is A Way

有志者，事竟成

The secret of success/The key to success is not so much money as a strong will. A great man is one who has a strong will and an indomitable spirit. In other words, if a man does not have a strong will to win/get the final victory, he will never succeed in his life. He is no more than a failure. It is quite obvious that there is no difficult thing/nothing difficult in the world. If you make up your mind to do it, you will certainly accomplish your end. That stands to reason.

成功的要訣不是金錢而是一個堅強的意志。一個大人物是一個具有堅強意志和不屈不撓精神的人。換句話說，如果一個人沒有堅強意志去獲得最后勝利，他終其一生都不會成功。他只不過是一個失敗者。很明顯，世界上并沒有難事。如果你下定決心去做它，你一定會達到目的。那是顯而易見的。

My Aim

我的志向

Whatever a man’s status is/may be, he must have an aim. If not, he can hardly stand on his own two feet in the world. That stands to reason. However important fame and wealth may be, we must not let them become our object in life. We should aim at doing something useful to the society. If my aim can come true, I hope/wish to be a teacher. However, teaching is by no means an easy thing. I must apply myself closely to my studies so as to be able to cope with my duties (as a teacher).

不論是什么身份的人，他必須有一個志向。如果沒有的話，他很難立足于世上。那是顯而易見的。不論名利如何重要，我們切不可讓它們成為我們生活之目標。我們應當志在做一些對社會有益的事情。如果我的志向能實現(xiàn)的話，我就希望成為一個老師。然而，教書并不是一容易的事情。我必須專心學業(yè)以便能應因我的職責。

Protect our environment

保護環(huán)境

As we all know, the environment around us is getting worse and worse. In some places we can’t see fish swimming in the river or trees on the hills. Some people even have no clean water to drink. So I think we must do something to protect our environment. But what can we do? How to protect our environment?

In fact, there are many things we can do. Firstly, we can go to school on foot or by bike and don’t throw rubbish everywhere. Secondly, we can use shopping baskets but not plastic bags when we go shopping. Last but not least, we can use both sides of the paper when we write. In a word, if everyone pays more attention to our environment, there will be less pollution and our life will be better.

“There is only one earth”,we should act at once. I hope everyone will protect our environment well.

我們都知道，我們周圍的環(huán)境正變得越來越差。在一些地方，我們看不見河里的雨和山上的樹。一些人甚至沒有干凈的水喝。所以我想我們必須做些事來保護我們的環(huán)境。但是我們能做什么呢?怎么樣保護我們的環(huán)境呢?

事實上，有很多我們可以做的事。首先，我們可以步行或騎車上學，不要亂扔垃圾。其次，當我們?nèi)ベ徫锏臅r候，我們可以使用購物籃，而不是塑料袋。最后，當我們書寫的時候，我們可以使用紙的兩面。總之，如果每個人都能更加注意我們的環(huán)境，污染就會更少，我們的生活就會更好。

“只有一個地球。”我們應該立刻行動起來。我希望每個人都將能很好地保護我們的環(huán)境。

Time Is Money

時間就是金錢

“Time is money.” This saying means that time is very valuable.

But time is more valuable than money. The money we have lost can be gained again, but the time we have wasted cannot be regained. Moreover, sometimes persons can exist without money, but nothing can be done without time, just as no one can live without air.

Despite being so valuable, time is often neglected by men. Since time is an invisible thing, men often waste their time unconsciously. Without anything to do, they may gossip from morning till night.

Man can live only at most to about 100 years. It seems fairly long, but in fact it is rather short. We often say “How quickly time flies!” How many things can a man accomplish in such a short period? Hence we should use the valuable time properly to do our work. We will race with it. We will study and work hard. Never waste a little bit of it.

“時間就是金錢。” 這句話意思是說時間是很珍貴的。

但是時間比金錢更加珍貴。我們丟失的錢可以再獲得，但是我們浪費的時間再也不能重新獲得。而且，有時候沒有錢人可以生存，但是沒有時間什么都做不了，就像沒有空氣沒有人能活。

盡管時間是如此珍貴，但是時間還是經(jīng)常被人們忽視。因為時間是一樣看不見的東西，人們經(jīng)常無意識地浪費他們的時間。無事可做，他們可能從早到晚流言蜚語。

人類最多可以活到100多歲。這似乎相當長，但事實上這是相當短暫的。我們經(jīng)常說“時間過得飛快!” 在如此一段短暫的時段內(nèi)一個人能完成多少事情呢?因此，我們應該恰當?shù)乩�用這珍貴的時間去做我們的工作。我們將和時間賽跑。我們將努力學習努力工作。永遠不浪費一點點時間。
