狀語從句指在句子中用作狀語的從句，根據(jù)其作用可分為時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)、原因、條件、目的、結(jié)果、讓步、方式和比較等九種狀語從句。

1．時(shí)間狀語從句

⑴當(dāng)......的時(shí)候：when, as, while

I fell asleep when/as/while he was doing his exercises .

他正作練習(xí)時(shí)我睡著了。

When he arrived in Shanghai , his mother met him at the station .

他到上海時(shí)，他媽媽到車站接他。

While John was watching TV, his wife was cooking.

當(dāng)約翰看電視的時(shí)候，他的媽媽在做飯。

She always sings as she walks .

她總是一邊走一邊唱。

注意：when 引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語從句中的謂語動(dòng)詞可以是持續(xù)的也可以是瞬時(shí)的;while和as引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語從句中的謂語動(dòng)詞必須是持續(xù)的。

⑵一......就......

as soon as, the minute, the moment，the instant，immediately , directly, instantly, no sooner … than..., hardly …when..., scarcely…when...

The children ran away from the orchard(果園) the moment they saw the guard.

孩子們一看到守衛(wèi)就從果園跑掉了。

No sooner had I arrived home than it began to rain.

我一到家天就開始下雨。

⑶直到......

till,until, not...until...(直到......才......，not翻譯成“才”)

I didn’t realize how special my mother was until I became an adult.

直到我長大成人，我才意識(shí)到我的媽媽是多么特別。

⑷......次......的時(shí)候

every/each/the last/next/any/the first...time

Every time I listen to your advice, I get into trouble.

每次我聽到你的聲音，我就會(huì)有麻煩。

⑸once一旦......就......

Once you begin, you must go on.

你一開了頭,就應(yīng)該繼續(xù)下去.

⑹before在......以前

It was not long before he told me about this affair .

不久，他就告訴我這件事。

⑺after在......以后

After he had finished the work , he went home .

他干完活，回家了。

⑻since自從......以來

We have been friends (ever since) since we met at school.

自從我們在學(xué)校相遇以來，我們一直都是朋友。

2．地點(diǎn)狀語從句

where，wherever

Generally, air will be heavily polluted where there are factories.

一般來講，在有工廠的地方，空氣會(huì)受到嚴(yán)重污染。

You can go wherever you like to.

你可以去你想去的任何地方。

3．原因狀語從句

⑴because(因?yàn)�，與why配套使用)

⑵since/now that(既然，因?yàn)?

Now that everybody has come, let’s begin our conference.

既然大家都來了，讓我們開始會(huì)議吧。

⑶as(由于)

⑷in that(因?yàn)?

The higher income tax is harmful in that it may discourage people from trying to earn more.

更高的所得稅是有害的，因?yàn)槟菚?huì)阻止人們努力賺更多錢。

⑸seeing that/considering that/given that(考慮到)

Considering that he is no more than 12 years old, his height of 1.80 m is quite remarkable.

考慮到他僅僅十二歲，他一米八的身高就很引人注意了。

4．目的狀語從句

so that(以便), in order that(為了) ,in case(以防), in the hope that(希望能......), for the purpose that(目的是......)

The boss asked the secretary to hurry up with the letters so that he could sign them.

老板讓秘書快點(diǎn)處理信件，以便他能夠簽字。

The teacher raised his voice on purpose that the students in the back could hear more clearly.

老師提高聲音，目的是后面的同學(xué)能夠聽得更清楚。

5．結(jié)果狀語從句

so … that..., such … that...，so that(以至于......)

It’s such a good chance that we must not miss it.= It’s sogood a chance that we must not miss it.

這是如此好的一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)，以至于我們不能錯(cuò)過。

注意：so+形容詞/副詞，因?yàn)閟o是副詞;such+名詞，因?yàn)閟uch是形容詞。

6．條件狀語從句

⑴if,only if,unless(除非，=if...not...)

We’ll start our project if the president agrees.

如果校長同意，我們將開始我們的項(xiàng)目。

⑵as/so long as(只要)

You will certainly succeed so long as you keep on trying.

只要你堅(jiān)持努力，你一定會(huì)成功。

⑶providing/provided that/suppose that(假如)

Provided that there is no opposition, we shall hold the meeting here.

假如都不反對，我們就在這里召開會(huì)議。

⑷in case that(萬一，如果)

⑸on condition that (如果)

7．讓步狀語從句

⑴though/although/as(雖然，盡管)

Much as I respect him, I can’t agree to his proposal.

盡管我很尊敬他,我卻不同意他的建議.

注意：as 引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句必須用形式倒裝，though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句可以形式倒裝也可以是正常語序，although引導(dǎo)的裝不狀語從句只能用正常語序。

⑵even if/even though (即使)

⑶in spite of the fact that(盡管)

⑷while, when(雖然)

⑸no matter+特殊疑問詞=特殊疑問詞+ever(無論，不管)

Whatever you may say，he won’t listen.

不管你說什么，他都不會(huì)聽的。

⑹whether(是否)

Whether you believe or not, he is a villain.

無論你相信與否，他都是一個(gè)小人。

8．比較狀語從句

as, than

She is as bad-tempered as her mother(is).

她和她媽媽脾氣一樣壞。

The house is three times as big as ours.

這所房子是我們房子的三倍大。

9．方式狀語從句

as(按照), as if/as though(好像),the way(用......方法)

You can do it as I told you to.

你可以按照我告訴你的那樣去做。

He acted as if he hadn t done that.

他表現(xiàn)的好像沒有做過那件事情一樣。

Sometimes we teach our children the way our parents have taught us.

有時(shí)候，我們用我們父母教我們的方法來教我們的孩子。
