　　名詞定語(yǔ)與被修飾語(yǔ)之間的語(yǔ)義關(guān)系

　　作定語(yǔ)的名詞都是后面一個(gè)名詞的修飾語(yǔ)，但是它們之間的關(guān)系卻各有不同。

　　1.名詞定語(yǔ)表示邏輯上的主語(yǔ)，被修飾的詞表示賓語(yǔ)。

　　a department decision(a decision which is made by the department)

　　the volcano eruption(the eruption that is made by the volcano)

　　有時(shí)正好相反，名詞定語(yǔ)相當(dāng)于賓語(yǔ)，而被修飾的部分表示主語(yǔ):

　　a drug addict(a person who is addicted to drug)

　　an animal trainer(a man who trains the animal)

　　2.名詞定語(yǔ)作狀語(yǔ)，被修飾語(yǔ)相當(dāng)于謂語(yǔ)。在這一類結(jié)構(gòu)中，表示謂語(yǔ)的名詞常由動(dòng)名詞或動(dòng)作名詞來充當(dāng)。

　　impulse buying=buying on impulse

　　instrument flying=flying by means of instrument

　　3.名詞定語(yǔ)表示同位關(guān)系。這種用法可以說明某人的職業(yè)、職位。

　　Judge Darling Singer Carpenter Cardinal Nelson.

　　還可以表示特征、身份：

　　a supplier country= a country which is a supplier

　　a killer shark= a shark who is a killer

　　her lawyer brother=her brother who is a lawyer

　　traitor and robber Dickinson=Dickinson
